That’s extremely reasonable for a ‘B’ service & mot.

Now the wife has phoned me again. The engine light came on on her way to work this morning. The garage told her the EGT sensor is faulty but they can’t deal with that one, great, now I have to try and get that sorted before next weekend as we are away for the week, I bleedin hate cars.

Managed to get it booked into Mercare next Wednesday. Is it safe to drive before we get it fixed?

How have they been able to diagnose without seeing the vehicle?

The garage had the vehicle for the MOT and service.
The wife dropped the car off on her way to work, she works 100 yds away from the garage.

Take off the MOT and that's £130.

I have no idea how they would do a B Service for that!!!!!!, generally needs oil and filter, brake fluid, filters etc, parts alone are more than that

If brake fluid was done it would have been even more!

The sensor is there to warn you on any overheating issues caused elsewhere e.g. turbos etc, so unless you were very unlucky between now and Wednesday it will be ok to use. I guess it may drop into limp mode at an extreme but not sure on that

It did drop into limp mode yesterday, had the new EGT sensor fitted today £325 ouch. I left the Smart with them as I picked up the Mercedes, hope the bill is a smaller one tomorrow.
