Has anyone fitted front daytime driving lights to a 119 CLS?

I have factory DRLs on my 451 Smart & W166 ML ..... they're not something I'd have considered fitting though.

Can imagine it will take alot of effort and wiring to the switches and light sensors so on and so forth.

If I recall correctly, there was an option with the AMG style bumpers to fit twin fog lamps, one of which is then a DRL.
Afraid to say I wouldn’t have a clue on who did the kit though

Additional wiring won't connect with light sensors. The standard lights will operate relays/controllers to dim or switch off DRLs when they switch on

Then a need for relays too right?

Then I assume there would be a need for relays if the OP was to fit DRL's

Brabus made them... I have them on my Smart :)

(Main dealer fitted them for free as the car went into limp mode just after I bought it...). I’ve never seen another smart with them - they were a £450+ option...

I believe the you mean W219 CLS as the 119 is a Vito van ??

When i had my 219 i contemplated fitting them , the options at that time were :

Prise open the light unit and install some kind of LED strip

Remove the lower fog light and adapt some form of LED to fit in the space but loose the cornering function.

Cut a strip out of the bumper and house something LED in the created space.

All of the above were discounted due to cost , availability , reliability of Chinese LED products.

LED DRL`s are on all the time and have minimal current draw so dont think relays or wiring them into sensors would be required , pick up a spare 12+ switched supply from the fusebox and that should be it.

So to answer your ?

No

Television fitted some to one of his R230’s and had a few issue, LED strips were still quite new at the time

I am going back around eight years ago when i first got my CLS , there now maybe some plug + play DRL`s from the far east.

Ideally they want to dim or extinguish when 'night' lights are in use. As well as if close indicators are operating.
On a Vito I installed LED dual lamps into the indicators. Bonded into the lamp holder the DRL feed was drilled through the back.
I picked up the feed from a spare fuse in the fuse box and that was extinguished via a relay powered from the sidelight.

I think it was something like this kit I adapted
