they will argue that the oil cooler hasn't failed if you go down that road though.

Smart + others :)
We always replace the oil cooler, difficult to prove what’s leaking.

Likewise. Waste of time not doing considering the work required.

Mainly Mercedes
Similar. The bottom face of the cooler almost always has some corrosion of the aluminium, often very close to where the seals seat. It ain't the sort of job you want to be doing again. Bit that annoys me, no matter how thoroughly you clean, they will always bleed oil out from the bell housing to engine joint for a few hours after. Makes you think it's still leaking for a while! I've lost count of how many of these I've done now!

All credit to the CEO for his understanding of the situation - he's agreed to pay for the repair (less my £100 excess)
I'm more than happy to pay for the oil cooler to be replaced, which was not included in the original quote.

Well all sorted. Car had the old orange seals which I'm a bit surprised at as I thought the purple ones were used from 2011 onwards.
Also had the ATF changed again - 35k since the last change, as the box was getting very clunky and jerky. Now very smooth.

Glad you managed to get it all sorted! Done a few 2012+ cars with orange seals. Its all about whatever they had lying about :)
