Have I been fleeced?!

Hi,

Just had a service on my 51 reg C180 Elegance at an independent garage.

The display showed that an A service was required. Alas, a lot more work was needed - 4 new tyres, cleaning pollen filter, new brake pads front and rear and discs in the front.

Was charged £667 all in.

Not really knowing the "market", I think that it was fair enough and certainly cheaper than a main dealer I would guess.

Any thoughts?

Are you concerned about the scope of the work done or just the prices?
If prices, you need to break the bill down, so we can see the main items and labour separately. If scope, well, didn't you notice all your tires were bald? I mean 4 tires, 4 pads and 2 discs suggest a certain style of driving or certain mileage - do you recognise your driving style? Do you know when the offending items - tires, pads, discs were PREVIOUSLY replaced - if at all?
More information needed!

For four tyres, 2 discs, 4 sets of pads, pollen filter, A service, labour and VAT, its sounds pretty cheap to me, if it needed doing and you approved the work.

For that money MB will give me 2.5 tyres for mine:twisted:
