Head gasket quote - 420 W126

Hello,
Quick question to you experts if I may. An acquaintance may need a head gasket replacement on a W126 with 420 engine... what's a reasonable quote for the job?

Well its likey that both heads will need to be done, as it can be difficult to detect which head needs the gasket.....my guess £1000-1200 for both heads

thanks ! That is close to other estimates i've heard and i think you're right they'd have to do both heads,

got charged for 8.5 hours labour + parts (gasket, new stretch bolts, fluids) for my CE last week - you need to add a few hundred quid if the heads need skimming - mine reportedly didn't need this.
