Head gone ?

Hey new to this and hoping for help with my new to me and new pain in the arse sprinter. It’s a 2007 315cdi mwb trouble I’m having started with a knock and stuck injector which took days and a lot of effort to remove now I’ve anti freeze coming from the bolt hole beside the injector tube which is weird no ? I can post a video if that

Was that injector stuck. A cracked injector cup perhaps?

yes that was the stuck one I think next step would be to take the head off and inspect shouldn’t be too hard a job ?

has that hole been helicoiled in the past.
if those bolt holes are not perfectly cleaned and crap at the bottom (black death) will push through and break the seal.

Id be-tempted to clean it out put a gas plus in and recoil above.

Not sure if it's the same on that engine but in some diesels there is a water gallery very close below the threaded hole. If there is liquid in the bottom of the bolt hole and it's tightened it can crack the casting. Also if it was drilled and rethreaded at some point they may have pierced the gallery. Either way the head is likely scrap.

Thanks for the replies haven’t had a chance to go any deeper life just gets in the way sometimes lol

I’ve seen this before. As others have said, the material at the bottom of the hole is very thin. In desperation of having to buy a new head the customer elected to go with my bodge fix. I drained the coolant to stop the water coming out, cleaned the hole and put silicone sealant on the bolt and some in the hole before refitting the injector. Ten plus years later it’s still going strong. It’s worth a try.
