Headlamp problem - c200k avantgarde

I have an intermittent nearside dipped headlamp. Sometimes it just doesn't come on, sometimes it will. no faults are reported at the dash.

The book tells me that if I have bi-xenons fitted they should be changed at a MB dealer, Unfortunately the handbook doesn't tell me how to tell the difference.

can anyone point me in the right direction.
