Headlamp washer motor

I have a 1993 600 SEC and one of the headlamp wiper motors has failed and it seems a replacement is needed. The cost from Merc is over 100 quid for what is a nice-to-have - does anyone know of any alternatives to source one? I assume it would be the same for W140 and S140 models

Also, the backlight on the digital outside temp guage has failed, I assume a bulb is out, anyone know how to change it, there seems to be no access unless the dash is removed, a bit drastic.

There was a recent post on the fixing of the wiper motors, they often just need cleaning up.

The instrument cluster just pushes out to replace the lamp

Thanks, I'll see if we can deal with the instrument cluster. On the headlamp wiper motor, my specialist mechanic confirms the motor has definetely had it, so it seems to no option but to replace

Hi Graham.......I recently posted similar re my W124 E320 and received very useful advice although I`m not competent enough to attempt the job myself so I`d be interested to know your end story of cost etc.

Hi,
Get the part number of the wiper motor, first 3 numbers usually equate to the model see if this number matches your model as in the case of my C class it seems a lot of parts are suffixed 210 (E Class).
This would at least give you a bigger variety of choice if you decided to try and source the part 2nd hand.

Thanks to all, for completeness I managed to source a wiper motor from Mercman and it's a pretty simple bolt-on exchange with the headlamp out. Motor cost £45, which I thought was reasonable
