Hi Clever MB owners - don't know what happened there; was trying to upload photo of plastic headlight holder - for some reason 2 were uploaded - and I couldn't add my questions. Don't even know whether this will work - sorry..
My beautiful CLK 320 2003 will have to have french CT soon (MOT equivalent). It passed with no probs in April 2019. Six months after CT the headlight stopped working (side is fine). Took to our local french garage - they tried to change bulb - and was told 'not possible'. I was shown damaged plastic connectior/holder (as shown). Because it's a small local puegeot garage they then contacted MB in London (as the car is a right hand drive). The garage said they couldn't replace this pink plastic part - and quoted me a stonking great sum for a Complete Headlight Assembly replacement....!! I nearly fainted. Because car is driven mainly in the summer, and with this --- virus we've had no socialising so no evenings out - haven't needed headlights. Now, with CT on the horizon, am wondering if I can source this replacement part myself, and ask local car mechanic to replace for me.
Any thoughts, you wonderful people.
Anyone know what this part is called?
Part number ?
Where to obtain ?
(and if UK supplier then not a problem as part can be sent to daughter in UK who can then forward to me).
You're all clever bods - someone will help - please XX
Hi John - thanks for such a quick reply - you see, you guys really are amazing.
So even though the part you've quoted is for a BMW - it will be the same for my CLK ? That's interesting.
Next question - how easy/difficult for a car mechanic to change ?
You see - you guys are amazing - very many thanks.
