Headrest Removal C Class W204

Hi
My problem is headrest removal on the 2 front seats on a 58 plate C CLASS W204
Can they be removed ? i have tried to get them out i can get them to the top just cant get the last little bit out , i have contacted mercedes they say its a safety feature and they want £250/300 to remove them
Does that sound right
Can someone throw some more light on it please, i know they are some very knowledgeable people on the forum

You need to remove the back lining from the seat to access the headrest guides and release the supports from the mounting bracket. There's a few electrical connectors to unclip. It is recommended to disconnect battery ground.
