Please do not shoot me if it is not that, but this is the most common thing, the fuses and holders need to be clean, as this relay draws much current. I trust that you have checked all of the fuses
It may only be a dry joint inside the relay

Heated Rear Screen Relay

Nice One Malcolm...

When you said 'dry joint' - I thought, I'll get my blowlamp out and resolder a few bits of lead - On Opening relay-!! Second Thoughts

Found it... Took it out.... Opened it up.... Breathed on it... Did the Mercedes Prayer.. Pluged it back in with a good wiggle and Hey Presto... my little switch light stays on.
Can't wait to get up at 6 o'clock in the morning to see the hot little wires doing their bit.

Thanks Again -

I have the worst eyes going, and I should have never chosen my line of work that I am in.

Bottom row 2nd from right and same row 4th from left

If any joint has a black line round it its dry

I have a similar problem with the same relay (I think) except that it is the wipers, headlight wiper/washers, and headlight flash that doesn't work. Strange thing is that they work when car is cold but stop when the car has warmed up. I am guessing a dry joint or two. Will get a replacement and see if it can be fixed.

This has come about because the indicator stalk was replaced due to indicator soft touch not working.

Indicators now work as they should but the other functions don't.

Its worth getting someone to solder up the PCB Mike, but do get some non drying switch cleaner and spray the holder and the relay pins

Malcolm I have just removed the component from the car and it looks like there are a couple of dry joints. I will get some switch cleaner tomorrow from Maplins to see if that works but it could be a case of getting the soldering iron out.

When re soldering, always apply new flux cored solder, and all joints should be bright and shiny, it only takes about 4 mins to do the lot
