Heated rear window switch

When switching off the heated rear window in my 190E the whole switch unit fell behind the fascia! Can I access the switch by removing the centre vent grille using pliers, and are there any retaining screws/bolts to be removed first.( Don't want to have to remove whole fascia!)

Any tips, please?

there are plastic hoses that will stop you getting anywhere through that route, the grilles are held by small clips at their edges and just pulling will make them fall apart.

But the knobs & dials on the panel below it can be removed and then you are in the right place. Just pull off the heater knobs and undo the big nuts behind them.

The HRW switch only carries small signals to a big fat combination relay in the fuse box.

Thanks for advice Wireman...I did remove grille but discovered no access to HRW switch(managed to replace grille OK though!).

Will attempt to remove knobs & dials as you suggested.
