Hi All

On my 230 CE the heated rear screen switch operates and the indicator light comes on for 5 seconds. Then the light goes out. I can hear a relay clicking and think it is a combined relay fitted on the bulkhead. I have taken the switch out and operated it many times to make sure the contacts are clean. But I still have the problem.

Do I have to replace the relay or is there another fix?

best regards

paul

The control unit send a signal to the multi relay, once this has latched it will hold and send a siganl beck to the control unit, the timer in the multi relay is then working.

95% of these faults are the relay in the multi function main unit goes badly dry soldered, just re solder all of the joints on the relay and it should be OK

Hi All
We are having a balmy night here in the Midlands. So I have whipped the combination relay out. I hope I have the correct item.
This has been sealed with what looks like silicon, is this standard or has someone sealed it before?
I assume that normally you would ease the black cover off and thus expose the relays.
Then go to work with a soldering iron.

I do not want to damage the relay as this also powers the fuel pump and the car will be a non runner.
Anyone know how much a new one is?
numbers on the relay are 00154566705
6200/min4Zyl.12V
898301

thanks
paul

Hi Malcolm
My car is a W123243, a CE230.
The diagram on the Russian site is not like what is under my bonnet.
http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...215717.401&CT=F&cat=223&SID=54&SGR=045&SGN=03
I have a combination relay, that is about 30mmX60mmX80mm.

So have I got a rewired example? It seems a lot of bother to do that.
Anyway, in principle do I pull the relay apart?

Would a photo help?

regards
paul

Hi Malcolm

I have checked a few 123 models for the fuse and relay arrangement and they look identical.
The relay number I have quoted in the post above does not match any of the parts list in the Russian link. As you have quoted
"050 1078200010 001 RELAY HEATED REAR WINDOW PANE RELAY"

My relay is marked as below.
00154566705
6200/min4Zyl.12V
898301.
This relay is located adjacent to the battery, I have just gone and looked at it and I am not too sure if it is "original".

anyway it time to crack open a bottle and have a look at the weekend.

thanks
paul
