Hello guys, my E220d S213 Mercedes has an oil leak likely cam cover/gasket. I will possibly replace the cover if it is the real culprit. Is it possible to have the torquing settings without having to pay a subscription to access the WIS?

Your help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Your proberly find most of them lose, half the time you can undo them with your fingers, hence the oil leak!! Don’t forget new injector washers and bolts, there 15nm then 90 and 90!
Thank you so much, mate. I had the rocker arms and camshaft replaced last year, and a couple of months later I noticed a small oil leak but stupidly left it. It's now much worse. Another garage found the leak coming from the cam cover, and when I checked it myself at home I found a snapped cam cover bolt head sitting in the corner. The only people who'd worked there were the garage that did the rocker arms and camshaft. I spoke to them, but after so long there's no way I can prove they over-torqued and snapped the bolt. Lesson learned. Thanks, and sorry for the long post.

Just one more question if I may?

Wouldn't 15nm then 90 + 90 for aluminium-thread bolts be too much and probably cause them to snap? There are M6 correct?

Thanks!

Ah, I was assuming you had a 651 engine, after you saying you had rocker arms and cams I no now you have a 654 engine, them rocker bolts snap for a pass time even at correct torque, I always ask customers if I can replace them every time I do cams etc, I don’t follow torque settings for this engine I go by feel and experience as they like to snap even at 8nm, the 15nm plus 90 +90 is for this injector bolts!!

Thank you for clarifying Cole, very helpful. Yeah, 654 engine, not the greatest of engines.. Best wishes

Could you please advise on the tightening sequence for the A6540164900 cover? Thank you!

Center one’s first, then one line forward, one line backwards and so on, that’s my route as I don’t believe there is a sequence, I do 3-4 a week and don’t have a problem, as I said before, the bolts snap just looking at them!!

Thanks again Cole. I've seen people replacing the aluminium bolts for steel ones which apparently cost £10 each, £170 worth of bolts.. Damn you Mercedes!
