Hi all new member :)
Please forward to correct forum if needed .
Anyone know how to remove a wing mirror for my E280 ? It’s a face lift model ( I think ) . Yes the electric fold has failed
Cheers
Jason

Welcome Jason, have you had a hunt on youtube, that usually has helpful guides on most things, in my experience so far.

I'm sure one of the forum experts will soon reply :)

Hello Tom ,
Had a look but the info I could find was on the older type mirror not on the type fitted to my new pride and joy

Thanks Kiwi :) second one is the same. , I’m guessing after removing it to gain access to inside is a glass out and disassemble . Fingers crossed the folding issue is a broken wire and easy to get to .
Thanks
Jason

Broken wires in the folding mirrors are a common problem . I've recently stopped the auto folding on my cars unless it's necessary to try and eeek them out a bit . Good luck with it , take a couple of pics for those of us that will be following your work :D

Going to look at the mirror next week and will post the results eta , just so we know I have posted a pic of the mirror type below . On what I can see I think the dismantlement of the mirror will begin with glass out and then taking it apart from the inside out of that makes sense . Will let you know how it goes

Sorry for delay in updating but have only just had time to finally get on with this fix . Thanks to lostkiwi for the mirror interior removal instructions ( see above thread ) . Found a useful guide on YouTube for the exterior works and how to dismantle the mirror ( will attach to this ) , followed the instructions and probably spent 3 hrs doing the repair . The posi wire to the folding motor was broken right at the point of where the wires come through a rubber grommet into the mirror housing , had to remove most of the cable wrap to find the other end of the broken wire . The motor wires for the folding mechanism are on the rear side of the mirror motor and are simply two wires ( + - ) and a white connector . I tested the motor with a power probe to make sure it worked but you could do the same with a 12v battery and a couple of clips to attach it too the terminals in the connector block to the motor . I have to confess that I ran out of time and opted to crimp the wires back together rather than soldering . On the whole not a bad job and if I need to do again or do the other side if needed then it would a lot quicker .
