Got her retested on Thursday night, failed again on the handbrake :( Bizarrely the passenger side had gotten stronger along with the drivers side which I had adjusted to there was still a significant imbalance across the axle, went back to the house and adjusted both again, went back and asked for a retest even though it wasn't booked in. Passed, happy out. Thanks to everyone for all of the help, very much appreciated :)

She now has a test until the end of June 2011, I feel I somehow rescued her

None at the monent, but there's an OM642 in the Jeep Grand Cherokee!
Is there a separate "traders' forum"

Only joking, of course ;)

It's an awful way to be, before the Merc I had a Prelude only for two months, I love Rovers to be honest, something about them. The Disco isn't a Rover as such but it's not too far away. I must say though the build quality of the W124 amazes me, staggeringly fantastic.

I intend to hang around here though in the post e250 days to come, so I can share my W124 ABS experience should anyone require it :D

I quite agree however, being a public forum I am unable to articulate any of that 'something' in print.

I'm after buying a 1997 Rover 216 Coupe now :)
Paperwork signed and both sets of keys along with car are now with me. Merc is taxed till the end of September so I will more than likely drive her until then unless someone buys her.

James,

I am trying to come to terms with someone selling a W124 and replacing it with a Rover 216..... I feel quite ill at the prospect.

Lol, my left shoulder feels quite ill due to putting the W124 into reverse  No doubt the Merc is the better car in many many ways, but I spent 5 happy years driving a K series powered 214SEi and ever since have never settled in another car (6 of them). Each to their own and all that :)

At least I am a Rover enthusiast who has bought other brands (Honda, Toyota as well as Merc). Nothing worse than an enthusiast who has only driven the one brand, ie many many Ford nuts one encounters in life.

Sold her today for €700 complete with vacuum line issue. No doubt she will serve her new owner well.
