Hi folks. Hello to all

I just purchased my 1st Mercedes and very nice it is toooooo.

I bought a Y plate 2001 C230 K in Jasper Blue with 1 owner from new and only 28K on the clock...Full service history and all that.

Its such a great car to drive.. In the past I have had Saab Turbos of many ages and years and also VW's ... Well I still have em can't let em go.

I do love my Corrado's haha Feel like a go cart compared to the 230.

I'm very very spanner handy and hope to put something back in to the forum for the help I'm sure I will receive.

CLICK HERE for a link on a write up I did on pulling the transmission from a 94 Saab Turbo that I once had.

Anyway as expected I have a question... Yes I only got 1 Key with the car... I guess that is with most used cars. Anyway I have been for a few days reading through posts on here and I'm confused...

CAN I buy a 2nd hand key from FleaBay and use it with the car? Its a 2 button fob with Chrome trim. I read some folks say the car has to accept the key so it getting the car to take the key frequency!! Others say point the key at the car and do a Pagan dance and tap the bonnet 3 times :D

and some say never buy a key from the old Flea Bay as it is useless!!!

Or is it a visit to a dealer?

Cheers all

Rob

It's a visit to the dealers unfortunately, @£200 will get you a new key.
The Ebay ones or any others cannot be reprogrammed.

The Key will need coding or the ECU will need De-coding , Most MB indys will have the capability to Carrie out the coding.

Thanks for the info..

So I can purchase a used key and get it coded. I'll try calling a few places see if they can do it.

Cheers

No they don't. They work out of the box on the SLK.

Hi thanks for the hello

See now here I am again... Back where the initial search took me.. Some folk saying 1 thing n others another..

Does the pagan dance and 3 taps on the bonnet work

So no keys from Ebay then?
