Hello all! Just bought a 300se, 1989 w126, also got a 2010 c250 estate gap car as the 7g box failed on my s212(on the hunt for another one), and a 15 plate lwb self built camper.
Any 126 owners here? Picking mine up in the next couple of weeks, will be my new project and daily as well as I have to do some work on the sprinter.

Will be a long one. For a couple of years it won’t be for the purists I tell you that. Banded steels are ready and it will be lowered. Can’t afford to do the bodywork in one go unfortunately, but the good news is it should be pristine and all original in the future

Wow the camper looks smart. Not so sure about the 126, but they are incredible cars.

Welcome by the way.

Camper looks slightly better on the picture, not bad though. And yeah, the 126 is in a state but I’m going to rescue it

Rust around the rear windscreen and parcel shelf is a big killer for these unfortunately - beautiful cars

Hello and welcome. I also have a w126, yours looks to be the same colour blue as mine. It's an ongoing project, mine went for some small rust repairs in December 2022 and didn't come back until March '23 - there was so much rust once it was taken apart. I'm still (slowly) going through it mechanically now, although it's roadworthy so it gets used on weekends. Are you in the UK?

Ahoy hoy!!
Fellow W126 owner here & also new member. I also have one in Diamond Blue, it's a lovely colour and was very popular for the second Generation W126's (1986 onwards) and holds up very well still.
As mentioned, rear parcel shelf/windscreen rust has been a silent killer with many of our chassis. Perhaps not to the extent that firewall rot kills W123's silently but in a somewhat similar way; One doesn't always see any outward signs of rust until it's too late and then when it does appear somewhere visible, the behind the scenes rust can be far worse than what is visible.
That's a nightmare scenario that is unlikely if your Benz was looked after so don't sweat and if it wasn't, check up on it soon because the sooner you get it, the greater the chances of rehabilitation (more poignant for the W123's but still applicable).
Welcome & if there's anything I can do to help, let me know!
