Hello, new member here, as my username suggests, I've a 1997 R170 which has been in the family since new, under my ownership for 7 years.. and maybe foolishly.. I've just acquired a (cheap, we shall see..) 2007 E280 CDI estate with 130k miles which I'm slowly trying to bring up to scratch whilst constantly worrying about oil seals on an old OM642 and when it's likely to throw me a big bill.. So far, to try and cure a vibration in the seat and a little in the the steering wheel, its had new front tyres (old had flat spots and cupping) new track rod ends today (old ones had lots of play) and I've got some new ARB drop links to put on which hopefully will stop an annoying front left rattle.. whilst under it today I spotted a wet oil pan, not dirty like old diesel oil so it may be a transmission oil leak, or possibly power steering as that needed topping up.. monitoring from here on. oh yeah, I've also replaced the PCV and all the turbo seals red/black/green as it was bit messy and oily by the turbo and flap motor which I cleaned as best I could. No doubt there'll be many questions to come from me and I look forward to some good advice from those in the know. and likewise I should be able to provide a little R170 knowledge in return/

Forgot.. Ive also changed the transmission mount for a new Lemforder one which improved things but its not quite perfect.

Thanks for now.

Numpty.

Welcome to the forum.
Quite a few owners here with the OM642 engine should you have issues.
