Hi everyone,

Thanks for having me on the forum, new owner here of a 2003 SL350 from steel city Sheffield.

Upgraded from a Mazda mx-5 and boy is a whole different kettle of fish.

My example wasn't perfect but this was deliberate by me as I cant wait to get stuck in tinkering and fixing the minor issues that my car came with.. (broken glovebox, broken center comp latch, headlight washers working one side) etc things like this, most of which I've already resolved.

Mechanically I believe the car is perfect, has full MBSH and I'm very much enjoying the ownership experience so far.

I do like the r230.
It's a pity owners break things, I had a broken centre console on the 500 and a broken glove box catch on the 55 when we bought them.
The centre console catch isn't sold separately, I had to buy a used one with a good catch. I removed the complete centre console to replace it. Now too bad to do. Get the hoover out, people are messy eaters and lots of crumbs get trapped under the console

Thanks for this! Yes looking like the only option is ~£200 for a whole new unit, plus the £50 for the probably expired gas strut within thanks for the reply
