200 SE Auto Petrol 2019
hope someone can help.
I have a 200 SE Auto Petrol- 2019 model with 14,000 miles on the clock.
Last week it would not start . Called RAC who did a diagnostic and found that the soot content on the gasoline filter was showing 19.3 instead of 9.5!
I am not techie at all so don't know what this means.
He recommended me to take the car to the MB garage for further checking as the reading was too high.
MB managed to reduce the soot content to 14.3 by driving on motorway for 100+ miles and suggested that I should be driving regularly on motorways to avoid this from happening!
This is obviously very time consuming and expensive. I had owned a C180 for 10 years previous to this one and had no such problem.
Has anyone else come across this problem? If so what is the solution.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Kishor

Clearly a DPF fault and or sensors thereto.
Car is still under warranty so pust the dealer to fix.

Welcome to forum, do stick around.

He said it was a 200 SE Petrol, so won't have a DPF ! Not sure what to make of this one!!

I know that my parents C200 (19 reg) has a PPF - "Petrol Particulate Filter". Their car only has around 5k on and that's all short journeys so why the OP's car would have an issue with significantly more mileage I don't know.

Whatever the issue I would expect a dealer fix.

Welcome Kishor. Clogged particulate filters can be a problem on diesel cars but I have never heard of such problems in petrol,
ones because the particulate technology is different. Your car is under three years old so I would take it back to them, insist on a courtesy car and let them keep it until they fix it at Mercedes' cost under warranty.

Edit… don’t call the RAC direct for any breakdowns. Call the Mercedes Mobilo service which gives you free recovery for the first three years and they will arrange the RAC and recovery to the nearest Mercedes dealer if necessary,

Thank you all for your input.
I bought the car in July 2020 from my local BM dealer with 11,000 miles. My 1 year warranty came to an end on 10 July.
The dealer did not charge me this time and also gave me a loan car, but they said if this happens again( and they say it will as I do low mileage and short journeys) they will charge!

I am not happy and have emailed them to express my concern.
I doubt if they reply.
If I had known that the PPF would clog up for the short journeys and low mileage I would have bought something else.
But because I owned a C180 Petrol for 10 years without problems, i decided to buy a MB again.
will keep you posted what the dealer says.
Thank you again

Mercedes have 3 year warranty, it doesn’t matter where you bought it from as long as it’s less than 3years old call Mercedes and they’ll repair under warranty and provide Mobilo roadside assistance

My Mini has a GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) and has rarely done anything other than short journeys and I have had no problems.
