I have recently bought an SL280 having loved them since being a kid And have never enjoyed driving a car so much, despite being 24yrs old and paying £1100 for the insurance
Anyway.......I thought I'd share a picture with you all and pick your brains on a couple of things.

The Soft Top is in A1 condition apart from the rear screen where is has split slightly at the edges where it folds. Can this be remedied by having new plastic sewn in or am I as well to get a new soft top?

Also I have never seen another SL in this colour(s), which partly attracted me to buy it. Is it a rare/special edition colour?

Nice car.... very jealous

The softop can be repaired but do it soon before the tear spreads. A new one replacement requires a second mortgage. Best bet is to get Mercedes enthusiast magasine from WHSmiths and have a look in the small adds for specialist rag top repairers.

As for the colour, I've seen other models in that colour but never an SL so I guess it must be rare. Cant be any more specific than that though..

Cheers.

I saw another thread mentioning replacement rag tops from USA. Might look into that. Bound to cost less to get a new plastic screen sewn in but it'll only be as good as the people doing the job i suppose.
