Hi, I've just bought a 1999 E430 estate, always fancied a W210 previously. Now times have changed I decided to find one.

I'll be using it for daily drives plus regular trips from NW to London. I'm used to low mpg as I've had a Volvo T6 doing 20mpg and a Chevy truck doing much less than that. :-D

Anyway, thought I'd introduce myself and wondered if anyone else here has a V8 and has any tips or recommendations?

Yes - I'm a V8 nut! My previous Merc was a 99 CLK230 Cab, now I've got an A207 2012 E500 Cab with the M278 4.7 TTV8. Your 430 has the M113 V8, which appeared in 4.3, 5.0 & 5.4 in various models. A totally bulletproof engine. Tip: if you want to hear more of that glorious V8 rumble, stop off with Imran at Torqueflow in Brum on your NW to London trip, and he'll reconfigure your exhaust.

Yes I have a V8. lovely engine, Mercedes really got it right with their V8s. Understressed, smooth and refined. And a nice noise.

I too have a pair of lovely V8’s, one supercharged, one not.

Regular oil changes, good fuel and enjoy it...

Couldn't agree more: they're cross plane V8s, like US muscle cars, not high revving flat plane screamers like Ferrari or BMWs M3 V8 a few years back. Perfect for wafting along on that mighty low rev torque.
