Help ! 1k spent no repair as yet

W203 C180 Y REG Petrol. When started from cold engine runs ok but as soon as it warms up it will rev to 2000rpm then go flat wont take the throttle. It gradually builds up the revs but has no power. MAF/CPS both been replaced. Fault code cyl 1 missfire, engine too rich comes up on the diagnostics machine (not star) and the plugs soot up Any ideas guys ? the man is a friend of mine and cant afford to keep paying out, £1000 to date and no cure PLEASE HELP !....Derek

What diags are you using ?


Have you considered the ECU could be at fault.

Are the Lambda sensors ok?

Are the cats blocked? Or did they rattle? Punch one and see if it rattles.

Have you swapped the leads aro=ound to see if the misfire moves with the lead?

Are the plugs good?

Plugs are new. Coil packs been swapped( made no difference) other three ? dont know. Any more suggestions please. No local indie with star MB only 50 miles away

Hi delboy - I had a similar problem with arcing/tracking in a distributor cap (SL500). Signs inside the cap are not hugely obvious, but are seen if inspected closely.

Worth a look, but if this is not relevant to your ignition system, please ignore.

Could be the engine temp sensor.

That engine is prone for the valves to stick in the glide, full head job is the cure!

Some indie told him that the throttle bodies were US £1.5k to repair. Needless to say hes getting rid of it.
