Evening all,
Just bought a lovely 95 SL500 and on the drive back I noticed an occasional slight whine from the rear. Therefore before summer arrives I decided to overhaul the entire back end.
Differentials already been rebuild and during the rebuild I intend to replace all control arms and wheel bearings. And this is where the problem lies....
The axles appear to be corroded into the hubs. No amount of hammering will shift them, plus the local indy had them in a press with no success.
My trawl of the internet has found a couple of post that allude to a special tool to allow their removal but no details. If anyone can share their knowledge or offer some assistance it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Damian
