This may be a good place to start and members have advised on some other items to bear in mind; my problems

Its a heavy car so goes without saying, stay on top of brakes and suspension components. Stay away from cheap tyres. IMO, s the engines are generally known to be strong on the whole, it tends to invite neglect and negligence in terms of maintenance. For the sake of a few extra pounds, always ensure the car gets a full service regularly (not just an oil change). Lastly its pretty low and so is the likes of the exhaust which runs underneath, so keep ground clearance in the back of your mind. If you do not have factory xenons, then you'll find the headlights to be downright useless.

To change the CDs, press the number of the disc in question when the CD panel thing pops out (IIRC) to eject and then insert the new CD in its place. To change between CDs whilst driving, press the number (1-6) on the command panel of the disc you want to play.

Check the last time the auto gearbox oil was changed, should be every 37K miles or 5 years which ever is earlier.
Seems to get missed quite often.

I ran a CLS for 2 years, and unfortunately got the brunt of the bills in my name for it. Suspension parts do wear quicker than you would like. Knocks on uneven roads or around corners are the first sign. It was one of the many balljoints I believe.

Air filter housing to turbo seal - never gets changed, but it is a £14 seal that is worth doing every couple of years. Stops it going bad and allowing oil to drop down the V of the engine and that takes out the actuator motor. Not an overly expensive part, but loads of labour needed to do it.

Turbo actuator may go, had that happen as well, but it was reconned and put back in. Can’t just slap another one in, because they are calibrated to turbo.

As mentioned above lights are useless. I resorted to an HID kit in mine and the improvement was like night and day.

Lacquer on the bumpers can peel off, quite a common one unfortunately.

Door lock mechanism can fail and every time the car is locked or unlocked the pin will bounce up and down a few times and it’s luck of the draw what it ends up on in terms of locked or unlocked.

The motors in the folding wing mirrors may give up the world to live, sometimes a firm knock can bring it back to life.

Glowplugs and controller module. Mine was unfortunate for both to go, or take each other out. Giveaway is long cranking times on colder days. Need both to work and the car relies on the to start.

Keep in mind in cold days the windows can glue themselves to the body of the car due to the frameless design so prepare yourself for loads of swearing too.

Off the top of my head those are the more memorable ones. Other than that enjoy! It was one of my favourite cars to date.
