Hi guys n gals.I posted ages ago on here that I was getting a "C" class.
Got it, it's the C200, 1997 vintage and is immaculate - ish!!!
Anyway, it wasn't starting and I was pointed in the direction of the fuel pump by my local MB techs.
"But it's pumping round the system!" I protested.
Long story short, I changed the pump and still no go. The relay is knackered, but the replacement should be here today (am off to get it after this).
However, I put a jumper wire to the battery + and onto the relay terminal and got the pump working. The engine fired and died almost immediately.
If I pour petrol in the plenum chamber it starts and runs, but wont start on it's own.
There is voltage at the coils and it is sparking (obviously as it runs when I pour petrol in the plenum chamber, remember?) and everything else seems in order.
I then put a clamp on the return hose to up the pressure in the fuel rail, again no go.
My thoughts on this are the injectors seem to pulse once (starts and dies) and thats yer lot matey.
Any idea if I am on the right track and if so, what would cause this?
It seems this car has been off the road for almost 3 years and all manner of muppets have played with it. I know I put it together correctly.
One last thing, when I renewed the fuel filter (£25 from MB ) the pressure was there when I undid the hose (need a shower to get the petrol out of my hair, ears, eyes, teeth, etc....), but it doesn't seem to be there at the fuel rail.
Please help me retain my hair by suggesting what it could be as I am in danger of pulling it all out
