A big one
Some questions to help us help you:

What car is this? Your W211 E270?
What stereo? COMAND, with the pop-out changer behind the switch panel?

Umm...kind of a longshot, but if it is the one behind the hazard switch panel, have you wait until the green light comes on? If you try to load the cdc when the red-light is flashing you might damage the tray.

You are pushing the buttons on the CD changer do you? The CD Button on the HeadUnit will only select the CD Changer as the source.

I would say only by removing it and sorting it out.

Remove it, open it and try to get the CD out. if you can not do it yourself then let someone do it for you. Keep in mind those CDC cost you only £80 on Fleabay.
