95 times out of 100 its the reader that cant communicate with the car, you are using the 16 pin socket under the dash

You need to give more info on the diags system you have as the cheap diags on ebay dont have all the K lines connected so they wont talk, also Ive found some Mercedes to have had the fuse removed so diags dont communicate, only assume some dealers do it or indies so the car comes back to them.

Take the 38 pin to 9 pin D connector remove the screws from the 38 pin plug and see how many wires there are inside, if 3, one yellow, one black , one grey then only one K line is connected which means this system wont read other systems on the car. Using the 16 pin socket wont change anything either. Never seen this system before and Ive spent lots trying and spent many many hours researching. Sorry but I think youve bought a pup.

I have read the spec and this unit will not cover the car, only the engine is covered

Yes correct,,that test equipment will keep you on the road for fault codes for items involved in the running gear.

The air con comes under body adaptations and a MB dedicated program is needed to go into that part of the car.
Cars have another CAN BUS for things like seats mirrors aircon etc.

Some programs like Carsoft 7.4 and the X431 will do these programs
