HELP fitting new tow bar k reg 190e

HI ALL ..IVE bought a towbar for my 190e FROM EBAY ..AND IM wondering whether to attempt fitting myself ??? Everything is in the box except electric cable which i have to purchase sepAratly .HAS any one attempted fitting one ???? is it easy ? have the merc electrics got a plug socket waiting etc?? help Dave

It is a straightforward job on the 190E - since the car has no complicated bulb monitoring system , you can simply wire in to the rear light clusters , picking up the voltages from the various wires leading to the bulbs . It is a legal requirement to have some sort of confirmation that your trailer direction indicators are working - so it is best to use a proprietary flasher relay with load detection and audible or visible feedback - plenty of these available from companies like towsure or your local caravan/trailer centre and will come with instructions .

Fitting the bracket is also straightforward assuming reasonable mechanical competency - you'll need to unbolt the back bumper , drill a few holes and bolt everything up securely .

190e towbar relay and dash bulb

I noticed that my 190E has a relay for trailer lighting and also in the manual it says that there is a green "trailer indicator light" on the dashboard, does anyone know how I would wire these up when wiring up my towbar, I presume if I just tap into the electrics at the rear lights then I wouldn't be availing of these features ?

Hi there,

could you tell me what kind of towbar it was and if you had success fitting it? I have a 190e H reg. I will be towing a caravan.
