Beside the ventilation fan slider (on the left side) is a hole with a few wires behind it, I'm guesing there should be a switch located there, if so is it the
air recirculation switch?

Hi Mike.
You don't say whether you have AirCon or not. My 190 doesn't have air conditioning and doesn't have a switch where you describe. It may be that at some time someone has fitted a switch or warning light there for some reason. Does your fan control slider work, i.e. does the fan operate at different speeds when you move the slider? If not then somebody may have rerouted the wiring to a switch for convenience which has subsequently been removed.
Anyway, whatever was there does not appear to be standard fittting.

Its a strange one I checked the owners manual and sure enough no switch on non-A/C cars. So what the switch was/is for is a mystery. I guess the best thing to do is get an auto electrician to fix it (along with the rear windows) and see what happens! :?

EDIT The wires go nowhere. I removed the cover beneath the sterring column and theres a load of same gauge wiring loose under there which I suspect is connected to a factory-fitted phone (NEC) which while it has power does'nt do anything. There is a speaker and a mic in position.
