Help me pick an Indy

Found 2 MB specialists near me. Nair Autos and Wayne Gates.

I know one is a forum sponsor not sure about the other.

Nair Autos use STAR, I think. Not sure about Wayne Gates.

I have a w166 with a full MB service history and 1 year warranty.

Not to fussed about the warranty but as I’ve got it, I don’t want to fall short of the rules around servicing/maintenance.

What are people’s thoughts? Is there any difference between the two? Is one better for the w166? I cover approx 25k miles PA so would be servicing the car (roughly) 3 times every couple of years.

It’s in great condition and need it to be well maintained and am more interested in preventative maintance/servicing rather than reactive.

How does one pick between the two?

There are loads of users of Wayne gates on the forum (who does use MB Star computer ) . You could try both if they are equal distance from you , or go and speak to both and see what you think ?

Not heard of Nair Auto's but there are a lot of folk on here that would highly recommend Wayne Gates

There is no substitute for a good rapport with the man who looks after your car, and that comes down to personal chemistry.

As long as either of the two you mention have a reasonable MB reputation - which they both do - why not check them both out before deciding?

Wayne Gates, as mentioned gets lots of recommendations from members for one good reason..........satisfaction.

Might be worth checking they both are authorised to update the Mercedes Electronic Service book, before you choose.

That means you keep your Mobilo cover ( breakdown and body corrosion for 30 years ) and if your Warranty is a MB warranty, if either are not authorised bye bye Warranty.
If you choose one who us not authorised ... you wont get a penny warranty!

Dont know why you dont care about your warranty.
Could be golddust if you have an expensive repair hit you like ABC pump, strut, or aircon
Unit or serious engine failure could be £1K to £10K!!
But then you might be loaded so it doesn't matter.

The way I said I don’t care about the warranty came across poorly. (Really must start proof reading before posting!)

The current warranty is with MB.

What I should have said is I’m keen to preserve the warranty but if I don’t have one long term, I’d want to make sure the servicing is perfect to minimise chances of things going wrong.

So assuming both can update the MB electronic service records, one is able to renew the warranty with MB?

Certainly not loaded so it’s not a money no object scenario. But I understand it costs a lot to keep these cars in good condition. Someone warned me to budget £1k PA (based on 25k a year)

Location wise, they’re both located in the same industrial estate so location isn’t a deciding factor.

Some commented they haven’t heard of Nair Autos. Think they traded under a different name previously. MercStar possibly? But not 100% sure about that.

The recommendations certainly mention Merstar plus the recommendations all seem positive. We live and learn !!

Both can update digital service book
Both use star
I have experience with Wayne Gates, all good!

MB warranty stays intact as long as mb genuine parts are used.

Regarding servicing, it's their bread and butter and they know the intervalsd/requirements off the top of their head!
