I have been searching endlessly for a car in which to arrive at my wedding. However, the search is proving near impossible. It would be fine if I wanted the usual white Rolls Royce or Daimler but I want something slightly different, basically cooler!

I really would love a 60s Mercedes but until I found your website was giving up hope. I realise yours is not a wedding car site but I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction? Perhaps you know of or are an owner that does hire out their car with a driver (we're getting married in Cheshire)? A long shot I know but any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Sadie - I have never seen any threads on that topic on this forum.

You are probably best to look for a specialist company that runs a fleet of older rental cars.

Look in the back of Classic Cars or Classic and Sports Cars (both monthly magazines). There are companies that rent out 60's sports cars but they probably do the odd saloon too - you might find they're more geared up to UK cars though - Jags and the like.

If you head along to a local wedding fair, you should find at least one car service. Whether they'll have a nice merc or not who knows, but they usually have pretty great cars. You WILL want a local one because most won't want to add mileage to their cars, not to mention the fact that the aged cars are not as guaranteed to arrive at their destination as some newer ones!

I arrived in a stunning '59 bentley courtesy of http://www.charismaticcars.co.uk - in fact, amusingly, that's me and my wife advertising "Mary" - they didn't mention that!

Groom, bride, champagne and glasses - that's four.. Hired their 6/7 seater (since been retired/replaced) as well for the other "hangers on" :)
