Hi All

I seem to have a electrical fault somewhere.

Sometimes when I drive my ML it gets stuck in gear and won't change and if I stop the car and re-start it, its back to normal

Any Ideas thanks

BTW its Auto and triptronic

Did you get any further with this? My ML had occasionally got stuck in 1st but always reset when stopped and re-started. Tonight it has decided to never change out of 1st no matter what I try.

This seems to be something that affects cars built 1998-9 more than anything, It could well oxidization of the ECU mounted just in front of the gear shift.

My 129 did it sometimes, and it solved mine, just unplug it and clean with a good switch cleaner

It will probably be the speed sensor inside the gearbox. It is located on the electrical plate.

I do loads of them.

I just noticed that if you attempt to engage the speed limiter it beeps five times and doesn't set the speed limit. Don't know if that is a normal limp home mode feature or perhaps a sign that the speed can't be read.

Yes still has the problem.

Any idea how much this speed sensor would cost and how easy is it to fit.
A diagram would be helpfull.

cheers
