hi all
i need a little help here. i was out on a 1 and a half hour drive in heavy rain had the wipers on full speed for quite a long time. after about 1 hour driving i could smell a burning and smoke was coming inside the car then wiper started to stop and start. there was no way i could carry on driving with no wiper. so i pulled over and lifted the bonnet to see the smoke was coming from the wiper motor.
i parked the car over night and went to pick the car up the next morning.
the next morning the weather had changed and on testing the wiper all was working fine and still is working fine now but i have not drove for any grate distance in the rain.
im just a bit worried that if my wife has to go any distance and the rain starts and the wiper pack up again she may be trapped with the kids in the car on some deserted road somewhere.
am not sure if the problem is the wet weather or that the motor is just over heating when on for a long time.
am going to change the wiper motor as my brother in scotland has 1 that i can have for free.
has anyone else had this problem.
can anyone tell me or have a site with pictures to show me how to change the motor.
i have a mb 190E 1800 auto and love it more than the missus lol
only joking she will kill me for saying that.
many thanks in advance
regards chris
