E320 2001 CDI (EGR delete, Swirl flap delete, chipped)
I have done the seemingly classic accident of spilling a few drops of water do wn by the gearshift on 2001 E320 CDI. Now the gearbox is not shifting from D to P or D to N and seems stuck in first gear.

Coincidentally the cruise control is not working and is giving a speedtronic warning on the dash.

I have taken the whole shift unit apart, cleaned the pcb with special water absorbing alcohol, without success.

I will try again with not much to lose.

What part do I need to get? The gearbox ECUs on ebay don't look like anything whats in my hand.

I these austere times, rather not get the whole shifter as mechanically seems fine.

Thanks in advance

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
You have just got to dry out the PCBs contained in those boxes, water can sit for ages under the components, heat with a warm air gun is the best

Tried relentless cleaning and drying to no avail. Needed to replace entire unit with one from scrapper.

I have phots of taking it apart if anyone is interested. If it is broken already may as well try to get it going again.
