Help on identifying a part?

Can anybody identify this part for me please.

I found this unit (which I believe is a sensor) hanging inside the engine bay attached to it's wires (two). I think it is a air flow sensor that is attached to the side of the air intake duct (leading to the air filter housing).

Since I got the car without the air intake duc I can't say for sure.

The part no is: 007 542 2117

My car is a 1989 300 ce

it lives on your air intake duct as you guessed and is part number 26 on this image

cheers Andy,

Spoke with some merc specialists (scrappy) and found out it's the temp sensor for cold air intake. Air Duct is being ordered so I can fix this part back in.
