Help on identifying a part?

Can anybody identify this part for me please.

I found this unit (which I believe is a sensor) hanging inside the engine bay attached to it's wires (two). I think it is a air flow sensor that is attached to the side of the air intake duct (leading to the air filter housing).

Since I got the car without the air intake duc I can't say for sure.:confused:

The part no is: 007 542 2117

My car is a 1989 300 ce

cheers Andy,

Spoke with some merc specialists (scrappy) and found out it's the temp sensor for cold air intake. Air Duct is being ordered so I can fix this part back in.
