Hi,

I am a first time user of this site. I recently purchased a 2004 c180 kompressor estate classic se. The indicator light on the drivers wing mirror was cracked. I have purchased a replacement but I am unsure how to replace this. I assume that I have to somehow prise out the glass on the mirror side but darn't force this. Can anyone let me know the correct way to do this. I guess it should be reasonably straight forward after this ( i hope)

Any assistance greatly received. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, to take the mirror off and work in comfort, prise off the triangle cover from the top, unplug the mirror, then remove the 3 screws, and its off.

Press the glass in at the bottom, and you will see a wire spring along the top of the glass , un hook it and the mirror lifts out, take out the 4 screws holding the cover on, and there you have it.

Have a nice day Malcolm

I need some help with driver side mirror indocator as well in my C180K Coupe '03.

I have removed the triangle (with the speaker) from inside of the car, then I removed the mirror glass, unscrewed 3 screws holding mirror mechanism (under the glass), unplugged that... and ? What am I doing wrong ?
I could only see a huge spring inside the mirror cover, behing that its my indicator - I didn't want to touch it.
Malcolm could you please tell me where do I find those 3 screews ?
Thanks

What is the easiest way to replace mirror indicator in my car then? Do I have to remove whole mirror cover ? And is it something what I can do or should I take my care to the garade ?
My e-mail address is: blank
Thanks for your help Malcolm

If you need to remove the glass, just press the glass down at the bottom and unhook the wire spring shown on the link sticking up in the air on item 10 and hooks into the glass in the end item 40

Ive got it !

BUT, I can't fold my mirrors automatically. They are not electric :(
The only thing what I can find inside the cover is: mirror glass, glass moving mechanism, black peace of metal and at the back of it you can see huge spring, and then ... indicator. Would you know how can I replace it ? ;/

I know how to remove glass and then mechanism which moves the glass, but what next ?

Regards

I am sure that you can fold them in by pushing them, they are all spring loaded, the cover must come off as shown.

I will take another look in the morning

I have checked again and the paper I sent is correct, fold the mirror towards the rear by hand, it is spring loaded and will catch in the folded position.

Then its as the paper

Malcolm thanks for your help. It took me 10min to replace the indicator (including cleaning inside of the mirror housing).
But my mirror (spring) didn't catch in folded position - I dont know why. Anyhow when I finished and switched the engine ON I saw message on my instrumental cluster, something about right lamp (indicator) to check it etc... but after couple seconds it disappear, so its ok now.

Regards.

Superb Service Regarding Damaged Door Mirror.

I too have the misfortune to have my n/s mirror broken recently when my C320 Cdi was was parked up. The mirror housing was cracked and the indicator lamp was smashed. I purchased the parts I needed to replace and that included a new colour coded mirror housing direct from MB.

I had put a message on this forum asking what I needed to do to take the housing and received many helpful posts from members. However I was still having trouble getting the mirror housing off.

Today, I went to collect the new coloured housing from Mercedes Benz of Bury St Edmunds (Robinsons) whom I purchased the car from. After I collected the housing I just happened to speak to the service manager Darren and asked him if a mechanic would be kind enough to show me where the clip was I had to move to take the mirror housing off.

Darren immedately asked the mechanic who was standing next to him to see if he could take the old mirror housing off my car. The mechanic removed the old housing and then asked for the other parts, and within minutes he had fitted the indicator and the new mirror glass and the job was done. And the cost 'nothing' free of charge.

I just wanted to highlight the superb customer service give by MB of Bury St Edmunds and recommend their services.....I am one very happy customer.
