Hi there,

bought my pride and joy 5 months ago - black CLK 270, automatic diesel, 70k miles.
4 weeks ago it broke:( Mercedes garage took it in and found the turbo had broke. They stripped the engine replace the turbo and a few other bits, and found the conrods had been bent from the pressure of the broken turbo sucking oil up through the engine. It took 4 weeks to fix. Went this evening to pick it up, just as the garage was closing, didnt get 100ft from the gates of the garage when the ESP (traction control) warning light started flashing when I turned right. I didnt speed at all, max 30 mile as hour, after 4 mile journey the light stopped flickering, came on permanently with a message 'traction control deficiencies go to garage immediately' - I tell you I feel like crying. I'm going back t the garage in the morning and feel like saying give me all my money back or replace the car with the same type.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated,
Yours in motoring,

DG

Why did you have to post this just before I go to bed, so sorry to hear that. Welcome to the forum.

Its possible that the steering angle sensor has been disturbed when working on the car. One of the snags in repairs etc is that you can do no more than have it all working at that time, the car would have been road tested, and another ½ mile may have brought the ESP fault to light.

Its upsetting I know, they will sort it in the mornig

I know it's late and apologis for it - I'm just so mad about it all. Not having the car for 4 weeks, and an error coming up as soon as I drive it out, I really thought 'someone is having a serious laugh at my expense!)

Thanks for your advice Malcolm, atleast when I go into th garage tomorrow I can sound like I might know what I'm on about! Fingers crossed they'll actually have a mechanic there, it being a saturday.
Thanks again
DG

Get some tranqulisers from the doc, I take it the car is still under some kind of warranty and you wont have to pay for these mishaps...

With the engine running turn the steering wheel lock to lock 3 times. Should reset the steering angle sensor.

But as Xtractor says, warranty should cover it :)

Yes got a 1 year warranty when I bought it, tg, will be looking for a warranty on the works done and on the new parts fitted.

On a different note, they gave me a 09 C class 180 kompressor, automatic (that was after I complained about the 1.2 honda jazz they were originally giving me). Lovelycar, but my god did it chew the petrol.

Just to update,

Brought my clk back to the garage yesterday - and hey presto I'm driving the petrol guzzler again (the c class 180)! Have been promised a phonecall from the owner of the garage before 12pm on monday. Thats who I ended up talking to when I went into the garage yesterday. We shall wait and see........

Yes, a very reputable MB garage. I know it will get sorted out, but after 4 weeks without the car, and now a possible 5th week, my patience is running thin.:(

Perhaps you would be better off stating that you would like to reject the car & seeing what happens!
