Got into the boot using the best tools I had - brute force and ignorance......:p

I realised that the latch had to be tight so I took my caravan leisure battery and placed it on cardboard onto the boot lid, hoping that this would take off the strain on the latch - it didn’t.

I turned the key as far as it would safely go without snapping and lifted the battery about half an inch then dropped it. It’s then I heard the latch click and when I took the battery off the boot lid it swung open - yeah :geek:

I screwed the lid adjusters in just in case they were causing the latch to become so tight it wouldn’t unlock. Time will tell.

Anyway the cars battery is on charge and I will find that parasitic draw - one day :D

I’ve had a carista bluetooth obdc reader that was used on my Saab laying around for a while and thought I’d try it on the Merc just out of curiosity to see what it would report on the el.power EPC fault, and it came up with the following -

P0201 - Injector Circuit/Open - Cylinder 1
P0202 - Injector Circuit/Open - Cylinder 2
P0203 - Injector Circuit/Open - Cylinder 3
P0204 - Injector Circuit/Open - Cylinder 4
P0205 - Injector Circuit/Open - Cylinder 5
P0206 - Injector Circuit/Open - Cylinder 6
P1405
P0404 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation "A" Control Circuit Range/Performance
P2033 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0428 - Catalyst Temperature Sensor Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 1

OBD2 - pending:
P0244 - Turbocharger/Supercharger Wastegate Solenoid "A" Range/Performance

Now I know the injectors are the wrong ones for my model of Merc but I don’t know if I’m impressed the car knows that they are wrong.

Any further info anyone can give regarding the other faults will be gratefully received. I have looked them up but it’s always better to hear from someone that’s had experience of one or all of the faults. Having had many cars that have had many faults reported I am aware that they are probably cascading from one originating fault but it would be nice if someone could point me in the right direction.

Many thanks

that P0244 will be the electronic waste gate failing , common fault , my car had a refurbished one fitted a while back , all those other codes look like a possible wiring loom fault pal ?

Hi Si,

I was dreading it being a loom fault but when the car is running and with my stethoscope I can hear the injectors ticking away quite happily, so I’m not there yet on the loom. I suppose I’ll find out when I get the new ones fitted.

Is the wastegate a pig to do?
