Hi All, just bought a 96 SL500. Love the car, really pleased, even my wife is being extra nice to me... However there a few teething problems.... little things.. the roll bar dash light won't go off.. can't open the arm rest compartment.. etc.. things that worked apparently on Saturday just before I drove it away... I bought it privately but but took out a Merc warranty on it first , I'll be taking it back to them for all those "don't work" problems..

The one thing that stumps me a bit is the condition of the windscreen... it has fine abrasions on it from the wiper blade.. leaving the window cloudy.. not too bad during the day.. but at night it's a pig... all lights streak down the windscreen... of course I had no idea of the problem till I took it for a ride.. I could learn to live with it but don't intend to... obviously I don't want to fork out for a new windscreen... but will if I have to I will... any recommendations (legal) as to what to do...Thanks in advance for your help...

Your insurance will cover this, as it is damage cause by grit from the road and was accidental, not wear & tear. The problem is, it isn't strictly legal, as the damage was there before you got the car insured:mad: . I know what I would do though, and am not saying.:) .

Also look at this thread from last week. http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=10537

warranty.

Thanks Pascal... I know what you mean... but I want to avoid that route.. the warranty I got from mercedes is supposed to cover MOT failure.. I'll see what the MOT people think of it...

the other thread you sent me was interesting... thanks for the link
