with the need to occasionally use the key release a bit of use and regular lube is a very good idea.

Tried mine recently for the first ever time, was a little stiff but worked OK. Fathers W211 nothing happens.... didn't look or feel bad (key went in easily you could feel all the plates move with the key nicely) but can't move it... loads of lube and some gentle manipulation nothing stuck solid

Try the old electric toothbrush (or other vibrating item;);)) trick.
Put key in lock with some penetrating fluid and place the vibrator on the end for a few minutes.

^ Get the wife's permission first.

You can't be using her toothbrush otherwise;)

In what way? I read that you can use this for house doors if you loose your key. I am not sure what you were thinking.
I'm sure with a little imagination you could find many a use for a rapidly vibrating implement.

Making cake mix :D
I was thinking cleaning spark plugs and those little difficult to reach bits when degreasing the engine. Of course you have to be careful to fully rinse the bush afterwards if you don't want black teeth.

Divorced now happy.

I have a very varied imagination and love variety in all forms. Yes I could find a rapidly vibrating implement very useful at times, but sometimes slower pulsating equiptment has the optimal effect. Take a Dodow for instance. Not to be confused with a similar sounding item. lol.XX

Not sure if any use for cake making though, unless you used it to vibrate the lumps out of the flour.

If people getting locked out of cars is due to flat batteries preventing the doors opening , has anyone ever installed the fly leads that you use for easy charging to be accessible either from under the car or through the rear seats for boot mounted batteries .
Although both my cars have these fly leads fitted to the batteries already , there would be nothing stopping me installing a second lead to each battery and leaving the CLK lead hanging down for access under the car ?

Malcolm fitted his 230 with these:

His is mounted internally but could equally be mounted in the boot floor or some other accessible place. To keep moisture out just fit a spare plug in the hole (suitably coated in silicon grease).

Total cost under £10 (for one socket and 2 plugs).
