Recently bought a 508D breitmaul with out papers and I´m trying to get it in to the UK.
The transporting company tell me it cant leave Germany with out them.
They tell me the van has not be registered in the last 7years, the last which was in Rosenheim. No record of the last owner because it was so long ago which I was told by the transporting company. ( I find that odd as they would still know who it belonged to?)

Can anyone help me find a sulution on getting the van across with or with out papers?

Looking to register it in the UK

I hope someone can Help!!

Is there a good reason to buy a vehicle with no papers ? (other than the obvious one . . . )

If you want to register it in the UK you will need the German papers (I have imported a Porsche 964, and a Hymer camper van from Germany into the UK).

So the first thing to do is have it registered in Germany, then you can start the UK import and registration process.

Unfortunately it is not as simple as driving an unregistered vehicle over here and hoping to register it. There are EU/UK laws designed to stop the movement of stolen vehicles.

You need to contact the German Vehicle Registering body, with the VIN number, and ask them how to go about registering it. There will certainly be a process, the Germans are very organised, so hopefully not too difficult, if you can prove ownership.

Best of luck and good wishes.

Presumably there will be import duty and VAT to pay as well when you bring it into the UK. You've factored this in?

who ever you purchased it from must have the papers or are they selling you something that not thiers. Thats why you need papers - ensures you own the car, so I can understand the predicament of the transport company.

Good luck with it all the German beurocracy. You will get there in the end.

I don’t think they don’t have any papers, like here, you cannot keep a car uninsured, untaxed without papers or any other evidence. Ask your transport company to declare : the car is for parts, in this case you don’t need TÜV certification, tzoll numbers etc, only the sale-purchase certificate . Try to explore this avenue ( maybe I’m wrong, is working when people are doing this kind of things from Germany to other countries in Europe)
