Hello fello Merc Owners,
I need some expert advice. I bought a W211 E270 CDi '03 on August 07th this year. The car was bought from a dealer and had been serviced by Mercedes in June 6th along with an MOT. About a month after buying the car, and it doing very little mileage I had the car inspected by Mercedes as I though I noticed some oil leaks.
Mercedes reported that there was a turbo oil leak and the seal was leaking. My question is:
1. how likely is it that the oil leak was there when I original bought the vehicle?
2. If the turbo unit was checked in June how likely is it that the turbo oil seal leak occured between the June service and me buying the vehicle in August ?
3. If there is an internal oil seal leak in the turbo does the whole unit need replacing or am I just being ripped off ???
I am slightly cheesed off as I bought the vehcile in August on the basis of it being fully serviced and have a full Merc service history. I now am faced with a £3000 bill to replace the turbo unit as Mercedes say they cannot fix an internal oil leak and the whole unit needs replacing.
Since September I have not been able to use the vehcile for fear of damaging the engine until I can get funds to pay for the repair, so the car has been looking pretty in the driveway. I thought about going to trading standards to report the fact that the car needs a major repair, does anyone think I may have a case???
Thanks
