This typical crap always happens when you really dont need it!

Im selling my 1.8 w202 next week and she has been great for me, but now its time to upgrade its playing up on me!

Its an auto and the gears seem to work fine but when its in drive and i put my foot to the floor/hit kick down i loose all power. i get alot of noise and will slowly reach 20mph then thats it. If i let off and put my foot down again it will creap to 30mph with alot of noise and then stay there.

Im wondering if its something i have done, as I just changed the fuel filter? ?But why would the gears work fine?

hhheeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllppppppppppppp lol

what kind of noise does it make? is it revving and going nowhere like a manual with a slipping clutch? or a loud noise like an air intake pipe split? anything to help with a more accurate diagnosis would be much appreciated

Sounds like air flow meter to me, try unplugging it and see if things improve, engine will either stall or run rough but better than is at the moment.

Well ive just unplugged something next to my engine between the air filter box that looks like the MAF sensor, and it runs alot better then it ever has! it stalled to start but then run alot faster then ive ever had it runnin in the 6 months i had it.

Is there a part number on it so i can try n find a new one?

My SLK had an ebay one fitted when I bought it, it went wrong and my local indy fitted a genuine replacement and it was like having a new engine fitted, the performance was greatly improved......but if your selling your car........
