HELP!! Water pump gone.

Hi guys (Malcolm :)) the water pump on my 300 TE has gone, is it an easy job? anything to watch for? any idea what a pump costs? is the belt easy to remove? well basically any advice/help at all please.

no problem,do you know what engine you have.

I do recommend that you get the spline sockets as the nuts bolts can be tight

Not difficult, but is time consuming. Make sure you bleed air out well after filling with coolant. Also make a note of route of the serpantine belt

When you say what engine I presume you need a code or something? its a 3ltr straight 6, chassis number WDB1240902F109639.

Just undo the 17mm nut on the top of the rod

Just be careful of the water pipes the connect to the pump they can be rusty and may get stuck.

Just undo the 17mm nut on the top of the rod

Would that be the nut just above the water pump, which looks like it adjusts the power steering pump? which on mine is 13mm and seized solid?

And what is the Chinese puzzle that is called the viscous fan? I can't remove the cover because the fan is in the way and I can't see how to undo the fan because of the cover:confused::confused::confused:

What cover, do you mean the shroud that cover the rear of the rad

Thats the one Malcolm, it clips onto the back of the rad, to stop people like me touching the fan!!
