WILL WATER SOFTENERS DO THE SAME THING AS A WATER FILTER?
Water Softeners change dissolved hardness into dissolved sodium bicarbonate which removes limescale. However, if you boil off the resultant water you will have a residue at the end of the process - which will be left on your car if you use softened water to wash it and let it dry in the sun.

Race Glaze water filters totally removes all dissolved solids and there will be nothing left on your car after sun drying. They are different process designed to do different things.

Wash the car again with car shampoo. Don't do it in the heat of the day, choose early morning or early evening. Dry it with microfibre cloths. For an easy finish use a quick detailer, doing one panel at a time. It goes on and polishes off so easily it won't feel like much work.

The only danger with this procedure is that your car will look good. That'll start to make you wonder how to make it look even better. Soon you'll have a mountain of car cosmetics and you'll be spending so much time on your car that it'll be reasonable grounds for divorce.

This exact thing has happened to me. Bought a tanzonite blue clk55 which I now find myself doing a full detail on weekly. The car looks great all the time but it eats into a lot of family time and now has become a bit of an OCD. finger prints on it- clean it. Dust - clean it.
It all started with a showroom shine type spray.

I use the water filter from MTP, it works well but I still can't stop myself micro fibre towel drying so I might be wasting a bit of my time (I'd argue it's easier though)

I have one (filter) as well and NEVER dry the car. I do use the leaf blower to get the bulk of the water off before parking that car back in the garage.

I agree with what Rory said John. If you are using a water filter then there should be no need to also use a drying towel, because you are effectively defeating the purpose of using the filter in the first place.
It sounds like you get a satisfaction from using a drying towel on your car, and I can understand that, so you would probably be better saving the filter till times that you dont have time to dry your car. :)

There is another reason though- if I’ve missed any bits in the weird and wonderful curves and crevices my car has, at least the towel gets those (or in fact series of towels !)...

All of which reminds me I should test the water to see if I need new resin...

So i never have washed my car. .

I want to say that if my car was 30 years old and not collectible, I wouldn't bother either but, I hate being in a dirty car!

I think the state of a car is a reflection of the owner (you excluded of course:)).

When I get into a car and it is like a tip inside & filthy outside, I always think that it probably reflects what the driver's home looks like.

My car is my space away from young kids. No food. No drinks. No dogs. No fun - unless you're the driver. Then it's all the fun AMG could create from 5.4L. Which is a lot.
So my car is spotless - as I would like my home to be.

Sadly, after cleaning it this morning I drove to the shops and after parking up, the front diffuser caught on the kerb and split. A very sad day.

Pity about the splitter. Fortunately it shouldn't be a major repair.

There is always a lot of discussion on the merits of ABC on a SL (in SL forums) and besides the better ride, there are other benefits. One of them is being able to raise the car when parking nose in at kerbs etc.....

Unfortunately, mine is a CLK. So whilst a simple a fairly cheap suspension set up, raised kerbs are a nemesis.

Needless to say, it is going in this week. Its a £300 fix. Not the end of the world but a cost I'd rather not have. My fault, I always back into spaces for that very reason but this time I was too lazy. Serves me right I guess. We've just booked to take the kids to Disney Land too. Its an uncomfortable month to say the least.
Still, I'm happy, healthy and have an AMG. So I can't complain.
