My ec light has been on constantly on my E430 ,1997 model. The local dealer reset it and said a/c will still not work because the evaporator temp sender is not functioning. So I bought one thinking it cant be hard to fit. Well .....
Does any body know where it is and how to get at it. Ive spent £100.00 so far and still no a/c. Thanks. Gary

Hi
EC light on = aircon OFF.
EC light OFF = aircon ON.

Hi
EC light on = aircon OFF.
EC light OFF = aircon ON.

Careful!! This changes from model to model

If a/c light is on constantly it usually means a fault..

Thanks for info so far. I know the ac should work with the light out, dealer says its the faulty sensor thats preventing the compresor from switching on.
I'll try looking behind brake pedal later today.

Thanks for that, but I have read that thread and even asked a question in it.
However my dealer says the fault lies with the sensor at the evaporator. ie inside the car.

even after it's been replaced the fault has to be reset on the star I think?

Personally I wouldn't go near a main dealer for and AC fault (unless it's under warranty) the reason is that they aren't AC specialists and they don't really know that much about it. I would find a local AC specialist (you may find that they do work for the main dealers the one I used did) and get him to fix it. These people work on them day after day and know all the issues. When I had my W210 the guy I used was very knowledgeable and knew all the issues with the AC on W210's

The dealer that diagnosed the fault has reset the system and the ec light is no longer lit. However because of the faulty sensor the ac will still not run, he did say the light may come back on.
