Help With A Merc Clk 320

hi guys

i'm new to this forum and have just bought my first mecedes, but i was wondering if i could get some clues.
i have a 1998 clk 320 sport auto, other day i started the car(engine was cold) went down the down road and while i was waiting at the traffic lights, the engine just cut out and it really worried me as it struggled to turn back on again, and the thing is it only does it when you start it from cold, when the car is warmed up, its fine.

any help or clues would be very much appriciated.

Perhaps some more info would be useful.

Was the engine still cold or had it warmed up?

What happens if you leave it idling from cold?

Was the car in drive or nuetral?

Which brake did you have applied - parking brake or foot brake?

Had the car been sitting overnight? If so does the problem occur if it has been sat and cooled down after a shorter time period, say a couple of hours?

i had just turned the car on from cold and drove down the road for about a mile, water temp was around 70 , car cuts out both in neutral and drive and i only use the foot brake and car was sittin over night, it only cuts out when its cold, once warmed up its fine.

any help would be much appriciated.
