Hi,

Hope maybe someone could offer some advice on my current problem.
On 2 occasions now the Fault warning system has beeped and displayed the faults:- ESP Stabil Prog, ABS System and Brake Assist - 3 Malfunctions.
Upon switching off the ignition and restarting the errors have cleared and it shows no malfuctions. After about 200 miles the same thing occurred.
can anyone suggest any possible causes and remedies?

Thanks in advance

This fault could be many things. You need to see a specialist with a code reading machine. A pretty common cause is low gearbox fluid level, with your symptoms of only coming on after a good few miles. Maybe worth checking that first, as leaks can be common where the electrical plug fits to the gearbox.

Those 3 faults to me indicate the brake light switch. Very very common problem and the part is <£20 from the dealer. You just need to be fairly flexible to get to the top of the brake pedal to replace it.

thank you both for your advice. I will get a new brake light switch (and practice my yoga technique in fitting it). But will also check the box oil level to be sure
I'll post an update when completed.

Thanks again

ESP has a wiring/connection modification kit. Talk to your dealer about this.

This sounds like my fault on 2005 SLK 200 today 2 malfunctions ESP and BAS wont go away though!!!
Take it to dealer tomorrow /warranty anyway, thought it might be due to snow and some crazy tailend action on Wednesday!!
Car not used since then!! Then washed outside and hoovered inside mats removed (possibly disturbed something at brake pedal????)
Any ideas????
